I am the owner of a 15KW Centurion 4666-1 (equal to 4390-1) air cooled unit with 16 circuit transfer switch load center.
What spare parts would you recommend to keep on hand to help ensure a high degree of reliability. Other than the obvious maintenance items are there any parts that you typically see problems with? Batteries, fuses, starters, control boards, cables, breakers, etc. etc.? |

You probably don't need half what you mentioned. Such as a control board, etc. Keep a six pack of oil filters, synthetic oil, air filters, maybe an oil pressure switch and a high temp switch, and maybe a set of brushes. That's more than most people would keep. You can work around bad pressure and temp switches if you know enough to diagnose that they are bad in the first place. I mean, these things can get sick, but you really don't need a bunch of parts beyond basic tune-up stuff. You can get a spark plug in a pinch, etc. so you really only want the cheaper stuff that might be hard to get. You can get nearly any part you need in a couple days tops. Just keep air and oil healthy. Generac sells a tune-up kit- buy one and that's about it.
