Middle of May this I was at the cottage where my Generator (Generac 8KW Propane) is. On Sunday it start up to do it's wekly exercise . It started up fine, ran about it normal 15 minutes and shut. Now here is the odd thing. My wife came in and said the generator was making a funny noise, I went out and heard it. Yep she was right. I got the keys, opened it up and found the starter was still running, not cranking the Gen just spinning the starter. I flipped the Hand/Off/Auto switch to OFF and it stopped. I then put it back to Auto and it remained off. I, then tried Manual and the generator started and the starter dropped out when the gen started. I put the gen back to auto and everything OK. I was a little concerned (we are not there every weekend) so I left it off.
Question - Have there been others with this issue ?
Question - At first I was thinking it may be a stuck Starter Solenoid but then it would have stopped cranking when I flipped the H.O.A. switch to OFF would it ?
Question - Is this a problem with the main board ? I(the owner) installed the generator last fall so it should still be under warrantee if it is the main board.

Starter contactor relay coil is fed by wire 56 from board. I would start at this location.

Like D11 said, I would check voltage going to the starter contactor. If you have a constant 12V, it sounds like your PCB is either not being told the generator is running (PCB's sense voltage via different means on different gen-sets) or the PCB is failing.

Kelly, when this was noticed happening, the generator had already finished it's exercise and had shut off, but the starter was still turning though not cranking.
Anyway, the last two weekend we were down and there has noy been another incident. (Gremlins???)
