We have just purcharsed a 16Kw Generator using LP gas. We have the regulator on it and have checked everything that we know of (which is not alot since this is generator is a new on me). We have followed the troubleshooting suggestions in the manuel and all the generator will do is crank it will not start. Any suggestions?

First thing, did you change it to run on LP?

2nd, it may take up to 10 crank cycles to move fuel through the regulator and fuel lines the first time you go to start it up! You can speed up this process by taking off the air box and air filter, and plugging up the hole that is not blocked by the auto-choke.

This will create a suction through the regulator, and it should fire up!

I had the same experience with my new 16KW and a new propane tank installation. I cranked until the battery wore down, then recharged the battery and cranked again until it was wore down. The third time was the charm, it fired up and ran well. That's how long it took to purge the air from about 30' of 1/2" gas line.

A quick (crude) way to purge the line to the generator is to turn on your fuel source to the line, and crack the union loose on the flex hose that comes with the generator until you smell gas ;)
