We have an 18KW liquid cooled 3ph 120/208VAC generac installed at a local doctors office. The flourescent lighting under generator power flickers. We did find a loose neutral in the emergency panel and tightend, but the lights flickering still persist.

Voltage at the transfer switch under load is 122 L1. 121 L2. 128 L3. At 60hz
Odviously no voltage fluctuation can be seen when measuring the voltage.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

thanks
Jeff

Alright, since no one answered the question we managed to figure the problem out.

When power was transfered to generator the lights even incandescent lighting flickered (so this ruled out the ballast). Inside the generator electrical housing you can find the voltage regulator. On the voltage regulator we noticed the red voltage light was flickering just like the lighting in the building.

We then adjusted the stability on the voltage regulator untill the red voltage light stopped flickering. We checked voltage and HZ. all was good.

No more flickering lights.

Good job. I would have been able to tell you exatly what you found. But I did not read the post soon enough for you. I have run into that issue 2x's so I know what it looks like.
