First, I am glad I found this site! I have had my Generator a little over 4 years now and ran into a little trouble lately and have a few questions.
The last power outage we had, the generator kicked on and after awhile I noticed the lights were getting brighter, I checked the voltage and frequency and they showed 107/67 HZ.
When the A/C came on it there was a pretty significant momentary drop in voltage. I called a local company that is supposed to service the generac's and a guy came out and adjusted the govenor via the manual. The next time the unit exercised it did a overspeed shutdown. I started it again, and sure enough the votage/freq was high again. I attempted to adjust the small pot on the regulator but the voltage went nuts when I barely touched it. I came accross this site and called Ziller electric and spoke with a gentleman (didn't get his name) and was very helpful in determining that the voltage regualtor is probably bad so I ordered one from them and it's on the way. Thank you!!!
One obsevation I made was the size of the generators wiring to their circuit breaker. It looked to be only around 10 gauge. My question is how can that small of gauge wire handle the load?
Also is there a way to tell if the gas regulator is set properly? I am on propane and noticed once in awhile the generator will sputter while on. I replaced the plugs and gapped them properly with no difference. Thanks again!
Correction: this is a model 04675-0 Generator
