Well, I received the 5416 (18kw), wired the RST-E-200a3 transfer switch and fired that puppy up. It hums like a kitten. I have say, it is a good felling knowing that you have power all the time. A question about the manual, it states on page 12 that with no load present I should get 247-249v @57.5-59.5 Hz but on page 13 it said that e/w a load it should be >240v and >60 Hz. It is running as we speak at apprx. 249v @ 57.6-58.4 Hz.(it fluctuates) air conditioning ,computer and lights:D :D . The utility power is 246.5v @ 59.98Hz. Is this normal for the gen.? How do I increase the frequency and not the voltage? Thanks

That is running exactly how guardian designed them to. :D

I have the 5416 also recently installed. my frequency, when running with no load is between 57 and 59 as stated in the manual. Under load, voltage is at around 248 and frequency is bouncing between 58.8-59.0 and the manual calls for frequency to be >60 under load. Should I adjust the potimeter or will this be OK?
Secondly, I am running NG at 5.5" WC and when it runs in the exercise mode (2400 rpm) I get an NG smell (assuming unburned fuel). When it runs in normal mode (3600 rpm), virtually no smell. I also watch my NG gas meter in the exercise mode and it spins the c.f. dial at about 4 revolutions per minute, which would be 240 cf per hour. Unfortuneatly, I haven't watched or timed the meter during the normal mode, but will do so shortly. Is this NG smell normal in the exercise mode? I have checked, and there are no leaks to the unit and the meter stops spinning completely when the engine stops (unless another appliance in the house is running). Thanks

I checked the NG consumption based on the gas meter in the normal mode and it looks like it burns 1/2 the fuel as compared to when it runs in the low rpm exercise mode. I calculate approx. 120 cf per hour running at normal speed with no load. So, I assume that the low rpm exercise mode on my 5416 is malfunctioning and I guess I should set the low rpm exercise mode to the normal rpm exercise mode. Unless there is an easy fix, I will put up with a little more noise on a weekly basis in order to save half the fuel cost.
