I have a 15kw guardian that worked fine at my old house. I moved it to the new house, and it does not run properly under load. It idles fine, and sounds good. Is there anything easy I can check before I pay big bucks for a service tech? Its almost a year out of warranty.

Hello Roger,
From what I can tell from the information you provided, you have a model 4390. Since it is a year out of warranty, I'm guessing its three years old. The older 4390 generators (4390-0 and 4390-1) were designed to run off 11-14" of water column @ .5psi. This is not a common household pressure. I'm sure you had to install an elevated pressure meter to have it run properly.
I'm guessing your new house has a standard 5-7" of water column. I would highly suggest having this checked before proceeding to have a generator repair facility come out. The older model 4390 generators cannot be upgraded to run on 5-7" of WC. You will have to have a new meter installed to have it run properly.
If you do indeed have a 11-14" wc meter at the new house, let me know, and I will go through the steps of troubleshooting this. We can probably figure the problem out without you having to pay someone!

I have a 4390-0. I called my gas provider, and they informed me I do have a 4-7" wc system. They are coming to put in an extra meter for the generator next week. I totally forgot about the elevated pressure on that gen-set. Thank you so much for your help!
