wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy excessive.
When you say "about 45 hours", could it have closer to 100-120 hours on it?
Any hour meter in use?

No hr meter and closer to 70 hrs now I filled it full on Monday morning,, Ran it for 9 hrs Monday , 9 hours Tuesday checked it Tuesday evning after shut down and 4 hrs cool down time and now i am half a quart low. So if its way excessive whats the fix a new motor ? I still have full warrantys etc... Thanks for the advise.

Well, Theres a lot of variables involved here. The main issue I run into is customers not filling them up to the proper level to begin with. If you used .5 qts in 50 hours, I would say that isn't out of the norm. The crankcase holds enough oil to allow long runtimes, and the generator WILL shut down when the oil gets below a safe level.
If in fact its losing oil at a quick rate, I would recommend doing a simple cylinder leakdown test. If that checks out fine, you may have an oil leak.

Kelly, thanks for the insight info. I will do this change oil to full synthetic as per manual and see what happens from here, I am on generator power till home is finished and power compnay installs meter.. 30 days or so.....after this it will only be full back up during a storm etc..

  Oh no. Could have an out of warranty problem here. The transfer switch must be disconnected and you start it manually.
